Childhood & Early Life

  •  He was born as the youngest of four siblings, Ramesh Tendulkar, a Marathi novelist and Rajni, who worked in the insurance industry. His name was named after his father's favorite music director Sachin Dev Burman.

    • As a young boy, he was a bully. His elder brother encouraged him to play cricket to get his attention away from the quarrels and enrolled him at the academy of coach, Ramakant Achrekar.
    • He went to Shardashram Vidyamandir High School on the advice of the teacher because there was a rich cricket tradition in the school. He was playing a star cricketer for his school and soon people were predicting that he would become a famous player one day.
    Along with his friend Vinod Kambli, he was involved in a 664-run partnership in an Inter School match against St. Xavier's High School in 1988.

    Career
    • He started his domestic first class career in Mumbai in 1988 and scored a century in his debut match. He finished the season as the highest run scorer.
    • His performance in first-class matches was flying so much that he was selected in the national team only after one session. He started his international Test match against Pakistan in November 1989 in Pakistan only at the age of 16.
    • Though he could not score many runs in the series, he looked at both his batting techniques and his devotion to the game. He also made his debut in One Day Internationale (ODI) in 1989.
    • During the 1992-1992 tour of Australia, he scored 148 runs and scored 114 runs in one of the matches, batting against the great bowlers of the time such as Merv Hughes, Craig McDermott and Bruce Reid.
    • ODI was asked to open the batting against England in 1994, they blasted the stadium at 82 off just 49 balls. That same year he made his ODI debut against Australia.
    • Australia was on a tour of India in 1998 and the series was hipped as a series versus Warne competition. Sachin destroyed Warne in the series and made two hundreds in the three test series. Sachin played a key role in India's victory in the series.In the 2011 World Cup, Sachin was once again performing best, during which he scored 482 runs, including two centuries. India faced Sri Lanka in the final and won the match - it was their first World Cup win.
    After the World Cup, his form went bad and he passed the lean phase. He retired from all forms of cricket in November 2013 and he was given very emotional farewell by his fans

    Awards & Achievements
    • Sachin is also one of the most spectacular cricketers - the first person to score a double century in ODIs, the only player to score 100 centuries and the only player to score more than 30,000 runs in all forms of international cricket. It is no surprise that he is capturing a great position in cricket-mad India.
    Sachin Tendulkar keeps the world record for most runs and centuries in both Test cricket and One Day Internationals. He has scored 15921 runs and 51 hundreds in Test cricket. While living in ODI, he has scored 18,426 runs and 49 centuries.

    • He is the only cricketer to play in 200 Test matches.
    • He has won many cricket awards besides, Sachin is also a proud recipient of many awards from the Government of India. He was awarded the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, India's highest sports award for his achievements in cricket in 1997-9.In recognition of his outstanding contribution to cricket, he was honored with the highest civilian award of India in 2014, Bharat Ratna. He became the first player to receive the award and also the youngest person.
    Personal Life & Legacy

    •  In 1990, he met a doctor from Anjali and in the year 1995, he made a date for five years before applying a knot. This couple has two children. His son Arjun is also an emerging cricketer.
    •  She is actively involved with Apollaya, an NGO, and sponsors 200 deprived children every year. He has also used his popularity to help many popularities to raise large amounts of money for many great causes, including cancer research and education.
